VLF Trio on WFHB's Saturday's Child

Monroe County History Center, 202 E 6th St, Bloomington, IN

A rare chance to see one of Bloomington’s exciting new musical groups! The VLF Trio mixes up funk, soul, blues, and reggae into an instrumental groove stew. Bloomington’s John Valdez has drummed in Our Town’s best jazz, funk, and soul bands -- plus is a regular performer in Cardinal Stage musical extravaganzas. Funk-master Park Law studied bass with Victor Wooten and has toured extensively in rock and soul bands.  Guitarist Jason Fickel has performed with Jason & Ginger, the WFHB Firehouse Rounders, and has provided live guitar accompaniment for silent films at the IU Cinema.  As the VLF Trio they bring it all together for a dynamic array of originals – sometimes serving as groovy backdrops for Fickel’s vexing monologues -- plus tunes by the Georges (Gershwin, Boy, Michael), Morganfield, Meters, Marley, and more! Join the fun next Saturday, Nov. 9th, when The VLF Trio performs on Saturday’s Child, WFHB’s long-running live-music radio show, from 11 to Noon. You can listen at home, on your radio or online, or come on down to the Monroe County History Center, where you can be part of a live audience while enjoying complimentary coffee, juice and bagels. This is a swell opportunity to catch the Trio in an-ages venue during daylight hours! Saturday, November 9, 11am – Noon Monroe County History Center, 202 E 6th St, Bloomington, IN 47408 Free coffee, juice, and bagels (not available online!)
